"All in all, this is a great hotel, with a tasty breakfast, pleasant and helpful staff, and a lovely feel to the room. Quiet and comfortable, and well placed in the centre of town. All told, it ranks as the best overall experience I’ve had on my long European journey (17 nights)."

"Hotel Uman is a fantastic hotel. We stayed two separate nights on our way to and from Finland. Nice quiet rooms with all the amenities. Lower level garage is very convenient and safe. Hotel Uman is within walking distance of all Umeå museums, university, river walk, shopping and ferry to Vaasa Finland. The food is excellent (breakfast and dinner) and both are free! The staff is superior---very friendly and accommodating. Hotel Uman is the place to stay in Umeå."

"This hotel was a wonderful stop for us in the north of Sweden and became our base for a week. One of the unplanned for bonuses was the availability of a wheelchair for us since my wife broke her leg on the trip. The breakfast was great and the staff very helpful. Our room on the top floor offered great views of Skellefteå including the river and downtown."

"Despite having pre-paid, the person at check-in could not find our reservation. We showed her our confirmed reservation from hotels.com but she refused to give us a room until she could find us in the hotel’s system. We had arrived late evening so prompt access to our room would have been welcome. The person at check-in was very apologetic, but was not authorised to fix the problem. It is daylight at midnight, but the curtains were not wide enough to cover the window. We do not expect complete darkness, but the room was bright enough for me to read my analog wristwatch at 1.00am. The room for was hanging squint so there was light coming in from the corridor along the top of the door. That was not a problem in terms of comfort but it did betray a lack of attention to maintenance. We stayed here two years ago. I don’t think we’ll be back."
